First off, welcome to Pawprints at KimIan Acres! My name is Kim Harris and my husband’s name is Ian. We came across our household name a few years ago when we were in the process of making homemade wines and it has stuck with us. Back in November of 2022 we found our dream home away from the grind of the city and moved out to where we hear the birds sing in the mornings and the silence in the evenings.
A little about myself. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and between us have 5 kids with the youngest being a senior this year. We currently live in our dreamhouse with almost 7 acres of fully fenced greenery. We are in the outskirts of Capital Forrest and enjoy every day in the nature scene. We have three dogs of our own, Duke, Charlie (St. Charles) and Duchess. (The irony right?) This last July I celebrated 20 years working for the state. Every morning before I go to work the dogs and I have a routine. I tell them “Okay boys and girls it’s time for mommy to go to work” as they give me this don’t leave look; we want to play! I then say, “I know, mommy doesn’t want to go but I have to!” Then I make my rounds to all three and give them love and say “goodbye” you all be good!” I drive out of my driveway and see them either looking out the window or around the corner of the yard looking at me.
Well, after 20 years I have decided I am not leaving them anymore. The best part is I found my PURPOSE! No longer did I want to go to a job that I’m not appreciated. (Most state workers are not). I finally have said enough is enough I want to start being HAPPY!! What brings me more happiness than of course my husband?? DOGS!!!!!! There was no reason not to start over and have what I have always wanted, a doggy daycare. I wanted one for many years but knew the house we lived in couldn’t take a lot of animals due to lack of space. Now I have nothing to stop me!
